YOUR LOCAL STARTING POINT

Tile installation and replacement
in Winnipeg.

Tile projects involve more than choosing a colour or pattern. The surface underneath, the room's use and the edges around the installation all affect the work involved. Describe your Winnipeg tile project to LocalPolar, whether it is a new floor, a kitchen backsplash or replacing a damaged tiled area.

THE WORK YOU HAVE IN MIND

Projects to discuss

Each request is reviewed individually to confirm the scope and availability. Tell us which of these best describes your project.

  • Tile flooring in kitchens, entrances and other rooms
  • Kitchen backsplash installation inquiries
  • Replacement of damaged or outdated tiled areas
  • Tile work as part of a wider bathroom or kitchen project

PLANNING THE DETAILS

Understanding your tile installation and replacement project

Tile floors and the surface underneath

Tell us what is on the floor now and whether you expect it to be removed. An existing floor may need preparation before new tile can be considered. Include approximate dimensions, adjoining floor types and any changes in height at doorways. Photos of cracked or loose tiles help explain the concern, but a picture alone cannot confirm the condition of the underlying floor.

Backsplashes and finishing details

For a backsplash, show the full wall, corners, outlets and the area around cabinets or windows. Mention whether the wall is painted, unfinished or already tiled. If you have chosen tile, include its size and material, along with the layout you prefer. Edge trims, grout colour and where the installation starts and ends are useful details to clarify before the work is agreed.

Bathroom tile and wet areas

Say whether your project is a bathroom floor, a wall outside the wet area or part of a shower renovation. These are different scopes. Tile and grout should not be treated as a substitute for discussing the waterproofing beneath a wet-area installation. Mention leaks, dampness or damaged materials so these concerns can be assessed as part of the wider project before a cosmetic replacement is planned.

A CLEARER START

What to include in your request

Include the room, approximate area, current surface and tile selection if available. For a small replacement, show the damage and tell us whether spare matching tiles are available. For a backsplash, choose the kitchen and bathroom installation category in the form if it better describes your project.

You can attach up to six photos and add a comment to each one. Include a wide view for context and close-ups of the areas you want to discuss. Avoid including people, payment information or sensitive documents in your photos.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

Your questions answered

Can a few damaged tiles be replaced?

Describe the damage and whether you have spare tiles. Matching material, the cause of the damage and the surrounding installation will affect what can be discussed; an exact match cannot be assumed.

Can I provide my own tiles?

Yes, tell us what you have purchased or selected, including size and material. Quantities, suitability, preparation and other required materials should be confirmed before work is agreed.

Should I remove the old tiles first?

Include removal in your request instead of assuming it must already be done. Existing layers and underlying conditions can affect the project, so the removal and disposal scope should be discussed.
